For two days each year, off road racing’s elite drivers, builders, sponsors and fans gather at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA for what most view as the one annual go-to event in the off road racing community. This year’s Expo was no exception to that rule, with some of the highlights as follows.

King of the Hammers 2010 had 100 entries line up on the starting line. The start of the event was exciting and foreshadowed what was surely to be some of the toughest miles driven in the lifetime of each driver. The video below shows each of the teams launching from the starting line.

The 2010 King of the Hammers results show 43 of the 100 vehicles finishing the race. That’s a massive attrition rate and clearly demonstrates how grueling this race is on equipment and race teams.
The 2010 King of the Hammers race was an absolutely amazing event. I can’t explain how brutal the race was on everyone’s rigs. The desert has a way of humbling even the best prepared teams.
JOHNSON VALLEY, CA, FEBRUARY 5, 2010: The winner of the 2010 4 Wheel Parts Last Chance Qualifier is Ritchie Keller with a time of 12:09. Keller will start in the 5th position in the 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers main race.
The 2010 King of the Hammers race currently has 80 drivers slated to compete. It will be interesting to see how many of these teams make it to the finish line in what is sure to be the toughest, most brutal off road race in the world. The 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers has 21 additional spots available for the 42 competitors of the 4 Wheel Parts Last Chance Qualifier on Tuesday February 9th and Wednesday February 10th.

I’m finally back from the 2009 King of the Hammers race. The turnout was simply amazing, and so was the racing. A faulty unit bearing ruined the day for the Blue Torch gang, but they powered though and salvaged a great day of testing the new buggy.
I will be attending the King of the Hammers race next week working with Blue Torch Fab to get some video and still shots of their now famous rock/sand racer. Please stay posted for more details.
