We seem to be getting a lot of requests for Magento lately. The platform has grown leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and we have been with them from the beginning. It has been encouraging to see how the platform has developed into a full fledged commerce solution. We were approached by the owner of Game Day Girl Stuff about building a new site for them that was more robust and scalable than their existing platform. Magento was the perfect fit for their needs, and so it was.

Magento Live for Extreme Roc Rigs

We have done quite a few Magento installations now. Each time we dig into Magento, we appreciate the platform even more. Agreed, it’s a huge beast and a pain to get setup, but once it’s up and running it’s great. The flexibility and scalability are the major benefits.

Blue Torch Fab WordPress

We just finished up the final touches on the Blue Torch Fab website. It is built on WordPress and uses a custom theme and customized OS Commerce shopping cart. There are still a few visual bugs we’re working out, but for the most part, it’s up! Take a look and let us know what you think.

This was one of our first custom ecommerce websites. Rated X had some specific requirements that prevented use of an off of the shelf package, so putting together a custom solution better served their needs. They actually have two websites, both featuring their own products and content (photos, etc.), but are both managed from one admin interface. This vastly simplifies updating the site.

Technologies used in this project are ASP.NET, SQL Server 2000 and standards compliant HTML and CSS.

Insurance Specialties

When tasked with adding a specific signup process to their existing website, ISSI contacted Octane Media to make it happen. Through several phone interviews and one on-site visit, all of the requirements were determined. Even with distant clients, we feel it is absolutely necessary to have a face to face meeting to make sure all of the requirements are explained thoroughly.

This online signup application features a secure signup process utilizing a custom questionnaire to ensure all of the proper information is collected from the user. The applications are then put into queue accessible to the in-house admin users who can review the details of the application and approve their application. This site also integrates with Authorize.Net for credit card processing.

Technologies used in this project are ASP.NET, jQuery, SQL Server 2005, LINQ and standards compliant HTML and CSS.

Hutter Performance

Octane Media was contacted by Hutter Performance with a request to bring their online presence into the “new media” age. Our main objective was to create a content management system for them which supported embedding HD video, race team biographies, and project vehicle biographies. Hutter specializes in high end modifications to Corvettes and other LSX powered vehicles. In order to demonstrate their experience and focus in this market, we put together an Adobe Flex application called “Corvette Builder”. This online application provides the ability for the user to build their own package of parts and send it to the Hutter sales staff for a personalized quote. The Flex framework adds some familiar features of desktop applications such as drag and drop as well as state management.

The site features a fully featured, secure content management system which can be used to manage all of their products, race teams, project vehicles, and high definition videos. The videos are hosted on a social media video sharing site called Vimeo. This reduces hosting costs and provides another outlet for their video content.

It was a great honor when Lunati contacted us about building a custom eCommerce platform for their new storefront. Almost all of us here at Octane are motorsports junkies, so the thought of working with Lunati is all the motivation we needed to pull off such a large project. The motorsports industry has very unique challenges for eCommerce, most of which revolve around organization of product data. The platform developed for Lunati is built to take advantage of that advanced product classification as their internal product data evolves. These advanced features will be rolled out periodically over time to match their internal processes.

The new Lunati website handles all product, news, specials, and orders administration through a secure content/order management system built custom to their specific needs.
